The short version. SkipSimp is a podcast player that finds and skips ads on your iPhone. We don't run servers for the app, so we receive none of your data: there is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your library syncs through your own iCloud, which we cannot read.

Podcast servers. Like any podcast app, SkipSimp downloads feeds and audio directly from the servers each publisher chose. Those servers see your IP address and which episodes you download, and they may insert ads based on your location or count downloads. That is outside our control; please see the privacy policies of the podcasts you follow. Some feeds are still served over unencrypted HTTP; SkipSimp allows this so those shows keep working.

iCloud. Your library is stored in the app's private iCloud database and settings in iCloud key-value storage. Apple operates iCloud; we, the developer, cannot access this data. You can turn off iCloud for SkipSimp in Settings › [your name] › iCloud. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy.

Purchases. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We don't receive your name, payment details or Apple Account. The app checks on your iPhone whether a subscription is active.

Crash reports. If you agreed to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone settings, Apple may send us anonymized crash reports and usage statistics. You can change this in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.

This website

skipsimp.com is a static website without cookies, analytics, tracking pixels, embedded videos, social media plugins or web fonts from third parties. It runs on our own server, rented from Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestraße 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany) in a data center in Germany. When you visit it, the web server necessarily processes your IP address, the page requested, date and time, browser type and referring page to deliver the site and keep it secure. These server logs are deleted automatically after 10 days and are not combined with other data or used for statistics. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We have a data processing agreement with Hetzner.

If you write to us by email, we use your message and address only to answer you and delete them when the conversation is over, unless we must keep them by law (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).

Legal basis for the app (GDPR)

We don't process personal data from the app on our own systems. Where data is sent to third parties (Apple, podcast servers), it happens because you use the matching feature: searching, downloading, syncing or buying (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Crash reports via Apple are only shared with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Deleting your data

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and to object, and to withdraw consent at any time. Since we hold no app data about you, most requests can be met by the steps above; you can always contact us at the address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the one where you live.

Children

SkipSimp is not aimed at children and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes

If SkipSimp ever starts sharing anything new (for example an optional feature that lets listeners share where the ads are), we will update this policy before that feature ships, and it will stay off unless you turn it on.
